Skilled and licensed HVAC Technician with a strong background in commercial and industrial climate control systems, seeking to ensure optimal environmental conditions and food safety compliance at Wholesale Produce Supply. Dedicated to maintaining and improving HVAC and refrigeration systems to support consistent production quality, reduce downtime, and drive energy efficiency across temperature-controlled operations.
Essential Job Functions:
- Install, maintain, and repair commercial/industrial HVAC systems including chillers, rooftop units, air handlers, condensers, ventilation, and dehumidifiers.
- Conduct inspections and preventative maintenance on all climate control systems to ensure compliance with USDA and food safety requirements in ready-to-eat areas.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues with refrigeration systems in cold storage, prep areas, and temperature-controlled production zones.
- Work with production managers and quality assurance teams to maintain specific humidity and airflow standards across all departments.
- Monitor HVAC controls and sensors to verify system performance and adjust as needed for optimal energy use and efficiency.
- Maintain accurate service records in CMMS for all inspections, repairs, and scheduled maintenance tasks.
- Collaborate with engineering teams during system upgrades or retrofits and ensure seamless transition and integration with production workflows.
- Respond to equipment breakdowns and HVAC-related emergencies to minimize impact on operations and product integrity.
- Ensure all HVAC systems operate in accordance with EPA, OSHA, ASHRAE, and state/local HVAC regulations and safety protocols.
- Support utility management initiatives to reduce operational energy costs and improve sustainability.
Qualifications:
- Valid and current HVAC technician license in Minnesota.
- Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on experience in commercial/industrial HVAC systems, preferably in food production or cold storage environments.
- Strong understanding of refrigeration cycles, airflow balancing, and HVAC system diagnostics.
- Experience working with building automation systems and digital temperature control platforms.
- Skilled in interpreting blueprints, mechanical drawings, and system schematics.
- Familiar with EPA refrigeration recovery and handling procedures (Universal Certification preferred).
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional maintenance and QA team.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform moderate lifting (up to 50 lbs.) and utilize ladders and other warehouse related equipment.
- Ability to stand, move, and bend for entire shift.
- Ability to reach overhead.
- Ability to work in a cold environment for full shifts.
