Licensed 480V Electrician

Essential Job Functions:
  • Install, repair, and maintain 480V and 3-phase electrical systems, including power distribution, motor control centers, control panels, and plant lighting systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical faults on production lines and packaging machinery, minimizing downtime, and maintaining food safety compliance.
  • Respond promptly to electrical emergencies and production breakdowns, prioritizing safety and restoring uptime with minimal disruption.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams during the installation and commissioning of new processing and packaging lines.
  • Assist in the integration of automation systems, including PLC wiring and I/O mapping for new equipment or retrofits.
  • Perform routine electrical inspections and audits, maintaining complete documentation in the CMMS system.
  • Ensure all work complies with National Electric Code (NEC), NFPA 70E standards, and relevant local/state electrical codes.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance on electrical panels, control circuits, switchgear, and backup power systems (e.g., generators, UPS units).
  • Support electrical project planning and provide accurate estimates for labor, materials, and timelines.
  • Participate in safety audits and training initiatives, ensuring compliance with LOTO procedures, and promoting a safety-first culture.
  • Recommend upgrades to improve energy efficiency and equipment reliability.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Minnesota Journeyman or Master Electrician license with demonstrated experience in 480V and 3-phase systems.
  • 3–5 years of industrial electrical experience, preferably in food production, cold storage, or ready-to-eat environments.
  • In-depth knowledge of electrical safety standards, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), arc flash safety, and PPE requirements.
  • Experience troubleshooting and maintaining PLCs (Allen-Bradley preferred), VFDs, relays, and motor controls.
  • Strong understanding of automation, sensors, limit switches, and electrical schematics.
  • Competency in reading and updating wiring diagrams, single-line drawings, and panel layouts.
  • Excellent documentation, communication, and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a cross-functional team, including during emergency call-outs or after hours.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform moderate lifting (up to 50 lbs.) and utilize ladders and other warehouse related equipment.
  • Ability to stand, move, and bend for entire shift.
  • Ability to reach overhead.
  • Ability to work in a cold environment for full shifts.
