Production Supervisor

POSITION SUMMARY: The Production Supervisor in our Splits/repack department leads the planning, scheduling, maintenance, inventory management, and execution of operations within the plan. They are responsible for cost-effective planning, processing, production, and shipping of WPS products. Responsibilities include plant optimization to ensure maximum production, quantity, and quality. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE

Team Leadership

  • Identify the career development of individual members of staff and work closely with HR on development.
  • Providing ongoing training and coaching
  • Build and maintain a health work environment which retains and rewards team members.
  • Ensuring acceptable quality standards for all processes on their team
  • Reporting out to senior management on productivity and other performance indicators and identify solutions.
  • Ensuring policies and practices are effectively implemented to help the organization meet its operational and strategic goals
  • Accountable for the Operating component of the P&L of the Department, including being able to tell the story behind the numbers.
  • Work closely with Purchasing Manager to ensure supplies and budgeting.
  • Work with Director of Fresh Manufacturing to create capital improvement wish list and business case (ROI).
  • Responsible for producing, reviewing, and analyzing daily, weekly, and monthly reports.

Operational Excellence

  • Understand the requirements of each customer and determine product to be consumed.
  • Applies knowledge about the customer to inform decision making and problem solving.
  • Strives to provide additional value to the customer experience.
  • Actively solicits internal customer feedback to improve business relationships.
  • Suggests ways to improve the customer experience. Collaborates with colleagues to deliver high-quality service.
  • Responsible for ensuring daily Visibility Boards are updated hourly/daily.

Food Safety and Quality

  • Communicate quality needs and specs to all line team members for each product (color variation, labels, covers, etc.)
  • Cooperates with the Food Safety Quality departments to ensure compliance with all quality SOP's, maintaining audit ready status.
  • Respond to Quality issues that arise.

Continuous Improvement

  • Coach leaders on change management and activities, identifying best practices.
  • Listens and responds to feedback regarding change and uncertainty. 
  • Plans, implements, and communicates change initiatives. Anticipates and mitigates obstacles, risks, and business disruptions caused by change initiatives.
  • Readily adapts to change and uncertainty.
  • Creates an environment that encourages individuals to champion improvements to processes and outputs.
  • Ingrains a practice of analyzing and learning from both successes and failures within the department.

Safety First

  • Ensures the manufacturing operations comply with safety, quality, and GMP requirements.
  • Reporting all incidents in an immediate manner.
  • Maintains safe and clean work environment supporting the safety and risk management process.
  • Stop production work immediately until hazards or quality issues can be resolved.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • 5+ years of experience working in a warehouse or manufacturing environment
  • 3+ years of managing and leading teams with direct reports.
  • 2+ years of experience in ERP, MRP or WMS or similar computer systems.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly in English, both written and spoken.
  • Must be able to effectively utilize Microsoft Office, specifically Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Understand the value of working as part of a team, and the need of the team to be successful by working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work side-by-side with team members that may not communicate fluently in the same language.
  • Is willing to lead by example and demonstrate servant-leadership
  • Is willing to resolve problems in a respectful manner
  • Individual desires to promote the collective interests of the team more than self-interest
  • Must be a self-starter, highly organized; able to work well within all levels of the organization
  • Has technical expertise in functional area

PREFERRED QUALIFIFCATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Bilingual a plus
  • Produce Pro experience is a big plus, but not required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to distinguish color for grading produce.
  • Ability to work in cool to cold temperatures based off the food safety requirements of the produce.
  • Stand in a warehouse environment for the entirety of your shift.
  • Ability to work in a medium-high noise environment.
  • Lift 30 lbs on a regular basis.
